3 Vehicles Burnt In Anambra Tanker Explosion

Three vehicles were reportedly burnt in a fuel tanker explosion in Awka, Anambra State capital.
247ureport learnt that the articulated tanker, fully loaded with fuel (PMS), was coming from the Onitsha axis and heading towards Enugu when the driver suddenly lost control and went into flames after skidding off the road.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, said Police Patrol teams immediately rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area to protect lives and property and to prevent looters from taking advantage of the incident.
“Fire service personnel were equally contacted and are trying to extinguish the fire,” he said.
Mohammed who revealed that no casualty was recorded in the inferno, however said three other vehicles were completely burnt in the explosion.
He however said both the tanker driver and his conductor escaped from the tanker before it exploded, adding that investigation had commenced.
