Gov. Ganduje Lauds FG On Sumaila – Falali – Birnin Bako – Bauchi Road
Kano state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has described the recent approval by the Federal Government for the construction of the Sumaila – Falali – Birnin Bako – Bauchi road at the cost N4.57 billion as a significant step towards adding value to the commercial status of the state.
The Federal Executive Council had on 25th April this year, approved the project, as announced by the Minster of Works, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola.
“The project alongside other road projects being executed in Kano by the Buhari administration will ensure increased accessibility and reduced transport cost. These projects will significantly help in attracting more local and international investors to the state”, Dr. Ganduje stressed, while commenting on the project.
He added that the road projects would consolidate the position of Kano as a regional commercial nerve center serving markets for over 300 million people in Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Cameroon and Mali, among others.
According to the governor, “good roads, such as the ones being constructed by the Federal government, can reduce the wear and tear on vehicles, thus reducing transportation costs for both local and international businesses operating from Kano”.
Dr. Ganduje further noted that the74 km Kano – Katsina road leading to the Nigeria – Niger border, which was also awarded by the Federal government, has reached advanced level of completion even as the Kano – Maiduguri road project is making headway.
“We are also pleased that Kano – Gwarzo – Dayi I25 kilometer road which links Kano State with Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States as well as the neighbouring Niger Republic has also been awarded by the Federal government”, he maintained.
The reconstruction of the Kano – Kaduna – Abuja road was also awarded by the Federal Government in furtherance of its commitment to bring to an end the recurring accidents along the road which had dilapidated over time, Gov. Ganduje noted.
“I feel elated that Mr. President is totally committed to the development of infrastructure, especially roads, in view of their strategic importance in economic advancement”, he stated, adding that the people of Kano would continue to rally round the Buhari administration to ensure it success.
The governor reiterated on its part, his administration has undertaken major capital undertakings in the infrastructure sector, such as the Murtala Muhammed Way, Kofar Ruwa junction, Madobi junction and Dangi roundabout flyovers and underpasses as well as several metropolitan roads, inter-local government roads and feeder roads, to solve transportation problems and enhance the status of the state capital as a potential megacity.
