The Shiite group has resumed its protest against the continued detention of their Islamic Movement in Nigeria leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.

The protesting group seized the immediate vicinity of the Federal Secretariat complex, Abuja, afew metres from the National Assembly and the Presidential Villa. They chanted “Free El-Zakyzaky”.

247ureports.com observed heavily armed police team who began firing hot water on the protesting youths. In turn, the youths began throwing stones at the police. The police team ran away.

In the process, some of the Federal Secretariat Divisional Police Crime officers suffered injuries.

The Nigerian police had previously shot live-bullets at the protesting youths of the Shittes – when the group gathered for a peaceful rally at the Unity Fountain in Abuja. The group which consisted of women and young youths arrived the proposed rally grounds unarmed. They were protesting the supposed illegal detention of their leader Shiek Zakzaky. According to field reports, the Nigerian police, in responding to the protest, unleashed attack on the group, resulting in the loss of lives.
