The Appeal Committee for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward/Local Government congresses in Adamawa State commenced sitting on Tuesday to treat complaints and petitions arising from the ward congresses that took place on Sunday in the state.

Announcing the commencement of sitting at the Adamawa APC secretariat in Yola, Chairman of the appeal committee, Senator Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman from Kogi State, called on all members to use the appropriate channel created by the party to air their grievances.

According to Abatemi-Usman, the committee which is made up of three members will sit for three days in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution.

“Our assignment by the constitution of our great party is to take your complaints and petitions and discharge them as expected. We shall be here for three days. We are here to help the party to settle any matter that may have arisen from the ward congresses held across the state on Sunday. We bring you greetings from our national chairman, Chief John Oyegun and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC),” Abatemi-Usman said.

While seeking the cooperation of all members of the party in the state, Senator Abatemi-Usman assured them of fairness and equity of treatment for their complaints and petitions.

Other members of the appeal committee are Hon. Bala Abubakar Ajeje from Yobe State and Henniet Helen Wapmuk from Plateau State.

Shortly after the chairman’s address, a group of aggrieved members stormed the Adamawa APC secretariat to submit their petition to the appeal committee.

Leader of the group, known as Buhari Support Project 2019, Alhaji Usman Ibrahim who presented the petition to the appeal panel, said the ward congresses were marred by electoral fraud.

Ibrahim insisted that proper election was not held in the 226 wards of the state, alleging that the list of winners was merely concocted by some members of the party.

The group demanded for a total cancellation of the results of the ward congresses held across the state on Sunday and that a new date should be fixed for a fresh conduct of the exercise.
