The Sokoto state Police Command has recovered some arms and ammunition in the state. 

Briefing journalists in Sokoto Wednesday,  Commissioner of Police, Murtala Mani said “some of them were recovered in the course of our operations, others were voluntarily surrendered by those in possession of them.”
The arms and ammunition were displayed at the state police headquarters in  Sokoto. 
The Commissioner said the recovered items included 61 arms, 906 rounds of AK 47 ammunition adding that recovered arms from the public were 42 double barrel and single barrels of guns with 1,200 cartridges. 
“The exercise is  ongoing, the exercise cut across all the 36 states and the FCT.We will continue to do it .it is not an exercise of one day. It Is an exercise of continuous nature,  ” he stated 
Mani  added:” We will continue to do it anywhere we have information about any arm, we will see what we can do so that the society at least would be rid of all types of unwanted arms so that we can have the level of safety, ” he stated.

The Commissioner assured that serious measures were in place by the force regarding getting the source of those people who are manufacturing the weapons illegally.
