Ohanaeze Crisis: Deal With Nwodo At Your Own Risk, He No Longer Represents Igbo Interest, OYC Warns

Loading ...The youth wing of the pan Igbo socio cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has warned that anybody doing business with Chief John Nnia Nwodo, does so at their risk.
The group known as Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, stated that Nwodo’s suspension as the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo remains valid and accused him of working against the interest of Ndigbo. They insisted that Nwodo’s attempt to conduct an illegal election for the women and youth wings of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and declaration of war on the two organs of the group has exposed him as someone clutching on straws to survive.
In a statement jointly signed by its President, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro; Vice Chairman, Comrade Achuonye Obinna, as well as the Secretary General, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the youth wing said its declaration of independence was to save Ohanaeze Ndigbo from people it described as political merchants and traitors who don’t mean well for Ndigbo.
The group alleged that Nwodo and his group have been hobnobbing with a particular presidential candidate from Northeast under the guise of a restructuring Nigeria campaign to deceive Ndigbo into supporting his choice candidate in 2019.
“We hereby make known our position declaring the independence of Ohanaeze Youth wings from Ohanaeze Ndigbo presently led by the suspended President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo.
“With reference to his sham Ohanaeze Ndigbo Presidency, we reaffirm Nnia Nwodo’s suspension for grossly breaching his January 17, 2017 oath of office, lack of respect for the Igbo nationalism, institutional order and absence of mutual networking of the main organs of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
“We, Ohanaeze Youth Wing, having initially suspended Nnia Nwodo hereby after thorough consultations, near and wide, resolved to severe relationship with the self-estranged Ohanaeze Ndigbo President .His suspension remains indefinite till Ohanaeze Ndigbo is rescued from the political babblers and other characters in Ohanaeze Ndigbo who live by making cheap gains from the ongoing Biafra restoration agitation, singing hosannas of Restructure Nigeria, playing to the gallery without Igbo’s mandate and are hell bent on dragging Igbo nationalism to the mud, ” the statement read in part.
On how Nwodo’s successor will emerge, the youth wing disclosed that there are ongoing consultation by the Igbo leaders of thoughts, captains of industries, intelligentsia and Elders to choose a worthy leader to pilot the ship of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
