Two people have been confirmed dead following a cholera outbreak in Bauchi ‎state

Thus was disclosed by the chairman of Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Agency , Pharmacist Ibrahim Gamawa while addressing journalists in Bauchi  

 

According to him,  twenty new cases has been reported.

 

He said out of the  twenty new cases, two  died in  Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) and the remaining  eigtheen patients are responding to treatment in the same hospital .

 

Gamawa revealed that the  20  new cases  came from four different locations withinBauchi metropolis the affected  areas are Danmar A and B  Isangaya school ,  Hardo within  Kobi ward , Makama B at Nasarawa Jahun and  Makama A Gwallaga .

 

The Chairman said  that his agency has adquate drugs like ORS solutions. ,  chlorine for disinfection etc that will help the public against this disease. And they have started disinfecting  the whole areas in the state.

Gamawa then  called on the people of the state to cultivate good personal hygiene ,  they should also practices the habit of keeping their environment clean and they should always cover their food items properly adding that by doing that , itmakes the disease not to spread  in the state.

He said . “allowing your environment to be dirty, not washing of hands and eating any how is the cause of the outbreak of cholera. If we keep a good hygiene, we should able to do alot of hand washing during this period by doing all this, this disease will die away the way it started”.

He said that a sensitisation campaign in the media and other channels is being carried to sensitise people on the disease and how to avoid it.
