Wizkid performs live band rendition of ‘Ojuelegba’ at CAF Awards
Renowned Nigerian artiste, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid, treated patrons of the just ended Confederation for African Football (CAF) to a soothing live band rendition of his hit song ‘Ojuelegba’.
The Nigerian rock star took to the stage in a white-striped purple-black jumpsuit, with support from backing vocalists dressed as choristers.
It was a field day for Nigerian artistes as Patoranking, Phyno, Flavour, Tiwa Savage and Olamide graced the stage at the Accra International Conference Centre, venue for the CAF Awards.
Congolese singer, Fally Ipupa and Toofan of ‘Tere Tere’ fame from Togo were also at the event.
Surprisingly, only two Ghanaian artistes were given the green light to perform at the awards night, with one being Efya, who sang the National Anthem of Ghana, and the other being ‘Odo’ hitmaker, KiDi, performing to an empty auditorium, after the event had ended.
This move has angered some Ghanaians who are lamenting over the number of Ghanaian artistes that performed at the awards event.
Liverpool forward Mohammed Salah was named the 2017 Confederation of African Football’s player of the year at the Aiteo CAF Awards.
The 25-year-old winger beat fellow Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane and Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the prestigious honour.
