Governor Rochas Okoroch has said that the aim of his administration is to ensure that the state has the best workforce in the country adding that such lofty desire has necessitated the recent recruitment of more than 3000 (Three Thousand) workers into the state civil service and the Local Government system in the state by the state Government.
Loading ...The governor spoke on Thursday, October 5, 2017 when he met with the new workers at the Imo International Convention Centre (IICC) Owerri, stating that the new workers would be verified on the spot for the payment of their salaries to commence.
He said, the-on-the-spot verification had become necessary because some of the newly recruited workers have two jobs with the available information and discoveries already made, stressing that it was criminal for any of them to keep two jobs when there are others looking for one.
His words, “we have discovered that some of you already working as youth must work teachers and some with federal Government jobs also got recruited in the recent recruitment by the state Government and that is wrong. We are here therefore to commence verification for the payment of salaries to commence”.
He said “You are now the very pivot of the Civil Service in Imo State. We must get it right. You must understand what your responsibilities are and what you must do and how you can help yourself while in service”.
He added “we will create special program in computer to make all of you digital workers and computer compliant. We will let you participate in a course in Imo State University to enable you grow faster in the service. Nothing stops a Civil Servant from having masters degree and Ph.D. My dream is that in the next 20 years, Imo through you people will provide the best workforce in Nigeria”.
He continued “we also want to ensure what you can do in your ministries. Some of you must engage in meaningful ventures within your places of assignment. Some of you can create anything you think you can do based on the environment you find yourselves”.
The governor also gave approval for the immediate regularization of all genuine youths must work teachers after the verification and also gave approval for the payment of their salary arrears adding that, Only youths must work teachers who have been found worthy in the discharge of their duties in their places of primary assignment will be regularized by State Education Management Board (SEMB) and State Universal Basic Education Council (SUBEC).
