…holds workshop on information Mgt
A two day workshop for Information Officers in the Bayelsa State Ministry of Information and Orientation would hold soon, according to the Commissioner, Daniel Iworiso-Markson..
The Commissioner who announced this on Monday during his maiden meeting with staff members said the aim of the workshop would be to boost their capacity and make them more efficient in the discharge of their duties.
He explained that the workshop would be very essential if the work of boosting the image of the government and effectively communicating its policies and programmes would be successfully done.
Iworiso-Markson charged them to be more proactive as the restoration message of the present administration needs to be spread across the state, mostly to the hinterland.
He reminded them of the proposed community radio for the three senatorial zones and added that so much work needs to be done to ensure that it becomes one of the best avenues to reach people in the rural areas.
While calling for their support, the Commissioner assured them that he would always be available to listen to their complaints and address some of the challenges they are currently experiencing.
“I will be monitoring your activities henceforth. I need regular update on what you do in your various beats. No more laxity. We need to justify why we are here and we cannot afford to take chances.
“We will conduct a quick two day workshop to boost your productivity level. You need to be up and doing. Our job is very strategic. We need to go all out to achieve this. Those of you who are not using the social media needs to be doing so more often. That is where most of the misinformation of government activities comes from”.
Some of the staff members expressed delight at the outcome of the meeting, saying the Commissioner has shown clearly his interest to change the situation of things and move the ministry forward and assured him of their total support.
