The battle within the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] against the upcoming electoral race in Anambra on November 18, 2017 was tabled at the desk of the national chairman of the party yesterday September 6, 2017 at the national headquarters [Wadata House] of the PDP in Wuse, Abuja.
The PDP had held its gubernatorial primary in Awka to select its gubernatorial candidate. But the process, according to reports was marred by irregularities and outcry by aspirants of possible foul play by some influential members of the party who have preferred aspirants within the lineup of aspirants. In particular, accusatory fingers were pointed at the former governor of Anambra State, Chief Peter Obi who had a preferred candidate in the person of Oseloka Obaze.
According to the protesting aspirants, Peter Obi in cohorts with the head of the committee, Governor of Ebonyi, Umahi a close associate of Peter Obi, produced a doctored delegate list on the eve of the primary election. The list was not made available to the entire aspirants. It was only made available to Peter Obi and Oseloka Obaze. Peter Obi produced the list of delegates.

He assured that the election will go as planned. “PDP cannot cancel its primary election. It’s too late for that now”. The source who has sympathy for Peter Obi’s candidate acknowledged that there were grave errors made at the primary election. He however states that PDP had no choice but to go with the candidate since – anything less would mean that the PDP would not participate in the election. “We can’t have that”.
He continued to add that “we will still seat again with the national chairman tonight”. He hopes the aggrieved parties could be brought to the roundtable as partners in the race for governorship. “We hope to take settlement”.
The national chairman of the PDP, Senator Makarfi confirmed to 247ureports.com that there are issues before his table that are being resolved. He pointed particularly to the complaint by the aggrieved aspirants of the three man adhoc delegate election.
