Following the November 18 governorship election in Anambra state and continued threat and call by Indigenous People of Biafra to boycott further elections until referendum is being conducted for the exit of Biafra people from Nigeria, there were more deployment of policemen in the state.

247ureports gathered that the number of policemen on the roads in the state keep on increasing day by day as lorry loaded with some officer were also brought into the state yesterday possible to replace those who were on ground or to add to those already in ground as the campaign for the election kick-off this month.

It was observed that mostly mobile policemen were at every corner and strategic places in the town allegedly extorting money from motorists and cyclists in the state.

A police source said that they were in the state ensure to ensure hitch free election in November 18 and were ready to deal and shoot anybody or group of persons that disrupt the existing peace in the state.

He said that they were ready to be peaceful in their stop and search going on in the state but warned members of pro-Biafran groups to steer clear from attacking campaign rallies and meeting or would be arrested and prosecuted.

A resident of Awka Mr. Chido Akah described the flooding of policemen as unnecessary because according him, the policemen on ground in the state were enough to tackle any problem, stressing that it was creating unnecessary tension in the state.

“They said it is because of election, is it the first time election would be conducted in the state? They it is because of IPOB, have IPOB members killed anybody, they were just talking without any weapon. They should bring Hausa/Fulani to come and kill innocent people in the state in the name of keeping peace. They take the policemen at Borno where they are needed most because of menace of Boko Haram not in Anambra, there is peace here” Akah warned.
