The Department of the Special Public Works (DSPW) of the National Directory of Employment (NDE) has embarked on training of youths in Bauchi on Solar Energy installation, maintenance and procurement.
This was disclosed yesterday by the Director SPW Mrs. Henfieta Achigbu represented by Mr Chris Bamsida Assistant Director Training saying that NDE is initiating various skills programmes training aim at reducing mass unemployment which is threatens to shatter the aspirations of thousand youths and more disturbingly graduates of tertiary institutions.
According to him, the solar energy training is designed to provide training in designing. Procurement, installation, harvesting, harnessing and maintenance of power facilities.
“The SPW department of the NDE conceptualised this scheme to provide unemployed graduates with employment skills that would lead to poverty reduction and provision of sustainable income opportunities and self reliance”.
Also speaking, representative of Senator Nazif Gamawa, Alhaji Galadima Abba said that Fifty youths have also been trained by the NDE on phones repairs, electricians and carpentry in an effort to reduce poverty in his Senatorial districts.
“You have been selected specially from various local government of the state to be trained on Solar Energy, you should not disgrace the people of the State but I urged you to pay attention and take your training serious so that tomorrow you will became masters and employers of labour”.
In his vote of thanks one of the participants Suleman Jama’are thank government for the privilege given them saying that they have resolved to take the training serious and government would not regret in selected them.
