18 Year Old Eligible To Contest In Ekiti State LG Election – Fayose

The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose is to sponsor an Executive bill to the state House of Assembly to ย allow anybody from 18 years and above to be voted for.
He made the statement during a meeting with some selected members of the People’s Democratic Party and aspirants in the forthcoming local government election from Oye Local government Area.
He noted that the matter was constitutional, saying that who can vote at age 18 should also be voted for.
According to him, the era of imposition of candidates was over, adding that popular candidates should emerge naturally.
He sounded a note of warning to all aspirants in the local government elections ย coming ย up later in the year against pasting of posters, banners until candidates emerge after the primaries.
Fayose assured that the election would be free and fair devoid of undue influence. He advised party leaders and aspirants to work as a team to avoid unnecessary confusion in the party.
Some of the party stakeholders, including Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, ย Mr Michael Ayodele, party Woman leader, Mrs Yemisi Afolabi and others described the meeting as a welcome development.
