Pours hot water on him, without food

The people of Umuokparaku Isieke (Amaorji) in Ezi Awo II autonomous community, Awo-Omamma, Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State were penultimate Thursday thrown into confusion when an 11 year old boy was almost sent to the world beyond by his cruel father who unleashed an unimaginable cruelty on the poor boy by having his two hands severely burnt with hot water.

The boy, Master Chukwuebuka Daniel Aghamobi, a primary four pupil of Destiny Kiddies Nursery/Primary School, Awo-Omamma, literally returned from the land of the dead after his father was said to have locked him up in one of the rooms in his (the father’s) house for several days without food and had the boy’s mouth covered with a heavy cloth so that he could not shout as he visited him with the utmost cruelty by daily pouring boiled hot water on his (the boy’s) two hands.

The boy’s father, Chief Celestine Aghamobi, a retired police officer and cabinet Chief of HRH Eze T.N Onyenekwu, the traditional ruler of Ezi Awo II autonomous community, was reportedly irked by his son’s recalcitrant behavior in taking his elder sister’s GSM phone to play games but reluctantly returned it to the sister after she had searched for it for some hours.

Master Aghamobi’s elder sister, Adaeze Genevive Aghamobi was said to have reported the matter to her father who there and then decided that the best way to handle it was to lock up the boy and daily pour boiled hot water on his two hands after tying him with electric cables.

The bubble burst when Chukwuebuka’s elder brother, Chigozie was desperately searching for his brother who  said he had gone missing for days.
He reportedly broke the door of the room where his younger brother had been locked up  by his father without the knowledge of any member of the family.

It was a gory sight as the boy’s hands were almost severed from the arms even as he was in coma.
Chigozie was said to have raised alarm which attracted other family members and neighbours who rushed the boy to a nearby hospital, Chijindu Hospital, Umubochi, Awo-Omamma where doctors and nurses battled to save him.

The matter was reported to the Oru East Divisional Police headquarters, Omuma where policemen swung into action and arrested the boy’s father. He had been however released on bail pending further investigation’s by the police even as Newspoint gathered that the Investigating Police Officer, IPO, handling the case is Sgt David Osigwe.

Speaking to our reporter, the mother of the victim, Mrs. Catherine Aghamobi who was in tears revealed that her husband had similarly punished her elder son, Chigozie some time last year, though Chigozie was 16 years old then.

She called on public spirited individuals to come to the aid of her son to ensure that he receives the best treatment to save his hands.

When 247ureports.com visited the hospital, the victim was seen lying critically at the hospital bed.
The Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Mrs Ijeoma Victoria Azubuike told our reporter that the little boy is responding to treatment.

She however, noted that his hands have been maimed by the father’s inhuman treatment  even as she condemned the man’s action. She called on sympathizers to pray for poor boy’s survival and recovery as the possibility of using those hands again is in God’s hands, the doctor quipped.
