Enugu state government has promised to do all in her powers to
maintain the status of the state as the old and new political and
economic capital of the South East geo-political zone of the country.
The government noted that first Enugu investment summit organized by the state some months back has opened vistas of investment inflow into the state especially in real sector and tourism development.
Speaking while inaugurating a multi-million naira ultra-modern hotel, ‘Big and Tall Hotel” in Enugu, the State Commissioner for Tourism, Mr. Smart Ogbe stated that Enugu remains the most secured state in the zone even as the state was making more investments in infrastructural development to accommodate more investments.
Ogbo described Hotels as the first port of call in any city by investors and visitors stressing that the new Hotel would boost the hospitality and tourism potential of the state.
“I call on other investors to invest in tourism industry in the state, we have a lot of tourist sites and there is adequate security. This is why we organized the recent economic summit; we had to showcase our
potentials and tell the investors that we are ready,” he said.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of the “Big and
Tall Hotel”, Barr. Isaac Ogbe stated that he was motivated to invest
in hospitality and tourism industry in the state because he discovered
that every successful Igbo man or woman both in the country and in
Diaspora would like to be in Enugu which they see as their home.
“So whenever they come they should have comfortable places to stay; and I must also comment the state government in terms of the provision of security to the people of the state, especially the capital city,” he said.
On why he named the hotel “Big and Tall Hotel” the proprietor stated
that the name was only a state of mind, noting that somebody might not be physically big or tall but if he is rich and successful, his pocket
will be big and tall.
