The Plateau State Government says about 5,858 civil servants in the state have been promoted to various levels.
Mr Izam Azi, the state Head of the Civil Service, who disclosed this to journalists, said 4,798 jobs are available in 44 Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDA) in the state.
According to him, the vacancies stemmed from the retirements and deaths over the years.
“A vacuum was created in the civil service due to the last administration’s decision not to employ workers for eight years,” he said.
He said 1,067 teachers have been promoted through the Plateau State Teachers Service Commission.
“Government is also facilitating the implementation of the new Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) which is expected to address the problems associated with the old system recorded in Pension.
“A Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, was recently signed with the Federal Mortgage Bank to enable civil servants apply for a N1 million House Renovation Loan with minimal interest,” he added.
