Former Governor of Gombe State, Danjuma Goje has stated that having a bad APC led government in the State is better than to allow a PDP led government reign.
Goje, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation while reacting to the raging crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress ( APC) in Gombe also noted that the feud amongst the party men has cost them the perceived neglect in President Muhammadu Buhari’s political appointments.
Speaking after the Inauguration of the Gombe State APC Caretaker Committee, the Senator, who represents Gombe Central at the 8th Assembly harped on the importance of having a strong and united party in the state.
“the leadership of the party in Nigeria has decided to do a good job by bringing people from our neighboring state, and I want to ask the leadership in your presence to be neutral, to be objective, to be committed in trying to unite this party, because I am sure whether you belong to any other group, it is better that we have a bad APC Governor than not to have any governor at all, no matter how bad that governor is, if it is APC (member) it is better, because if it is PDP now… none of our members, no APC man has been giving appointment even as a counselor So you see, it is very important that we unite, we unite and put our differences behind us and move forward to ensure that we form the next government in Gombe State”. He said
While he thanked the National Leadership of the party for the prompt intervention, Goje also assured the Caretaker Officers that members of the APC in Gombe State regardless of their political differences will give maximum support and loyalty to the newly inaugurated leadership in the state.
Speaking earlier, the Deputy National Chairman ( North) Senator Lawal Shuaibu while inaugurating the committee reeled out the term of reference that will guide their activities for the three months period before a mini convention will be called.
Shuaibu charged the Ad-Hoc Committee to restore confidence and hope within the ranks of the Party across the state and ensure “the streamlining of all parallel offices and shutting down illegal party offices that exist at ward, local government and even at state levels and reinstall what we have in our records at the National Secretariat. He said
The inaugurated Caretaker Officers are: Hon. Lawan Shetima – State Chairman; Capt. Bala Jibrin – State Deputy Chairman; Alh. Sule Yakubu – State Secretary and Barr. Joseph William – Legal Adviser.
Recall that arising from the irreconcilable differences in the top hierarchy of the Gombe State Chapter of the Party which led to its factionalisation, the Party’s NWC accepted the resignation of Mr. Karu Ishaya and Mr. Sallau Manu Pindiga as State Deputy Chairman and State Secretary respectively. The NWC also relieved Barr. Muhammad Magaji Doho and Barr. Dauda Manu as State Chairman and State Legal Adviser respectively.
