bauchi letter

By A. M. Idris In Bauchi,

Barely one week after the withdrawal of the right of occupancy of the AIT/RAY POWER by the Bauchi state government in respect of the land housing the stations at Tirwun Village in Bauchi, the government through the state ministry of health has also withdrawn the approval earlier granted to the senator representing Bauchi central Alhaji Isa Hamma Misau to conduct free eye screening, surgery and treatment in the constituency.

BLUEPRINT gathered that the development might not be unconnected with the present animosity and ‘cold war’ between the state Governor Muhammed Abubakar and the members of the national assembly from the state who recently visited president Muhammadu Buhari and the headquarters of the ruling All Progressives Congress [APC] where they reportedly tabled their complaints and grudges against the governor.

The visit to the president and party was led by the Speaker Yakubu Dogara who also hails from the state and was attended by senators Isa Hamma Misau, Nazif Gamawa, Ali Wakili, minister of education Malam Adamu Adamu, former governortorial aspirant Yakubu Lame and members of the federal house of representatives all of whom are indigenes of Bauchi state.

According to the letter sent to the senator and signed by Ahmed Garba on behalf of the commissioner of health Halima Mukaddas obtained yesterday by our correspondent, the withdrawal of the approval and the pledge of the ministry’s collaboration in the exercise was due to unforeseen circumstances.

” I have been directed to refer to our letter N0. MOH/GEN/5/1134/T dated 16/8/2016 conveying approval for you to conduct Free Eye outreach in your constituency and to withdraw same due to unforeseen circumstances. We will get back to you as soon as those issues are sorted out. Please accept the assurances of the Honourable Commissioner’s highest regards”. The letter reads in part.

When contacted, the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on media Comrade Sabo Mohammed however said the request of the senator was re-approved and that a new letter of approval would be sent to him.
