Resume Negotiations With Kanu, Ohanaeze Youths Urge Buhari

The Ohanaeze Youth Council ,OYC, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately resume negotiation with the detained Director of Radio of Radio Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

The group stated that such move will endear the President to Ndigbo who have been agitating for the release of the detain IPOB leader.

National President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, who stated this in a terse statement, advised the federal government to seize the opportunity of the release of the detainees to commence negotiate with Kanu.

“This is a much-awaited opportunity‎ which should be utilized to end the bitterness against the Federal Government by people of the South-East. Ohanaeze Ndigbo urges President Muhammadu Buhari not to allow this golden opportunity slip off his hands. It is our firm belief that the Buhari’s administration will engrave its name as heroes of democracy if they utilized this opportunity to free Nnamdi Kanu”, he said.

 

Isiguzoro, urged that Kanu should be allowed to lead such a negotiation on behalf of IPOB, “For the dialogue to be genuine and fruitful, Nnamdi Kanu should lead the IPOB delegation. Nobody or group should negotiate on his behalf; this is to avoid a situation where the government will end up wasting time and resources.  If the government succeeds in this regards, it would no doubt endear it to Ndigbo and help in healing so many wounds.”

The Ohanaeze youth leader argued that Buhari would have won the hearts of Ndigbo if he heeds the advice of well meaning Nigerians to free Kanu who has been in detention since October 2015.
