The adage that politics is a do-or-die affair turned out to be true Wednesday as Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nysom Wike, Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State and other leaders of the People Democratic Party (PDP) stormed Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State to hold its convention.
This is coming on the heels of the sealing off the Sharks Stadium, the supposed venue of its national convention following a High Court order.
The PDP deviants who were earlier prevented from leaving the Government House by security officials who mounted vigil at the entrance to the Government House, turned the meeting to a convention where the National Caretaker Chairman of the party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, inaugurated the National Executive Committee of the party.
Senator Makarfi, who performed the inauguration said that the National Executive Committee, NEC, include the Board, the PDP Governors, National Assembly Caucus, Board of Trustees, National Caucus, 36 State PDP chairmen and national officers of the party.
He said in the absence of the elected National officers, the National Caretaker Committee members would be part of NEC, adding that the National Caretaker Committee members cease to be NEC members once national officers are elected.
At the meeting were PDP governors, National Assembly members, Board of Trustees, National Caucus of the party, 36 State PDP chairmen and national Caretaker Committee members of the party.
