Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has said the state’s 25th anniversary is worth celebrating, stressing that though the dreams of the founding fathers may not have been achieved, Abia has made remarkable progress within the period.

Ikpeazu who stated this in a broadcast tagged “Gratitude For where we are coming from , hope for a better tomorrow”, called for the support of all political stakeholders to move the state forward, and urged aggrieved persons  to sheath their swords and join his administration to contribute their quota to the development of Abia.

He warned those who fan the embers of disunity and playing the drums of hate in the state to desist.

Reiterating his commitment to the people, Ikpeazu said, “Let me seize this opportunity to assure all our people that the mandate, which they freely gave to us in 2015, remains sacrosanct and safe, under Gods watch. As custodians of this sacred ‘Equity’ mandate, we shall remain loyal and faithful to the supremacy, authority and ultimate will of God Almighty. There shall be no other God beside the God of Shedrack, Meshack and Abadnego in our land which our founding fathers rightfully named God’s Own State. Abia state belongs to all of us. We pull together, we succeed together, we stand for each other and we take the glory together.”

He disclosed that his administration has prioritized agriculture as one of the 5 pillars which developmental plans hinge on, adding that funds have set aside  acquire equipments and machinery needed to embark on massive cultivation of the crops in the areas of comparative advantage.

On road projects, the governor said his administration is active on 60 road sites out of which about 35 have been completed.

Ikpeazu dismissed reports accusing him of concentrating most road rehabilitation efforts in Aba,stressing that such does not translate to the abandonment of development in other parts of Abia state.

He said, “The Abiriba-Nkporo Road, the NdiOji-Ndiokereke-Ozu-Abam Road, the Abiriba Ring Road, Bende-Arochukwu Road, Mkpa-Enugu Express Road, the Eke-Obuzo-Ngodo Road, the Eluama-Amibo-Acha road, the Amibo-Otamkpa Road, the Okon-Aku Bridge and the Imo-Ndimkpa Bridge are all massive infrastructure projects completed and on-going in Abia North Senatorial Zone. We equally have a number of ongoing and completed roads spread in all the Local Government Areas of Abia Central Senatorial Zone. I wish to assure all sections of our state of a balanced attention in terms of infrastructural and social amenities. Therefore, all our effort in road rehabilitation, electricity, health, education and security are all geared towards creating a sub-structure upon which these businesses will grow.”

Ikpeazu who said that his administration has zero tolerance for touting, vowed to complete most of the on-going projects before the end of this year.
