The police in Delta State have won another major feat as it has arrested 36 male and 12 female suspected cultists during an initiation and anniversary ceremony of the cult group in Warri axis of the state.
The apprehended cultists are said to be members of the Neo Black Movement, otherwise known as Black Axe at Freshville hotel, Okuokoko, an outskirt of Agbaroh.
In a press statement signed and made available to journalists by the Commands Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Celestina Kalu, said “on Tuesday about 9:00 pm, while acting on a tip off that members of Neo Black Movement (a.k.a Black Axe) confraternity were holding their annual initiation and anniversary ceremonies at a location in Warri, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) deployed surveillance men to the identified location at Freshville hotel Okuokoko and arrested 36 male and 12 female suspects”.
According to her, items recovered from the suspects included NBM hand bands, some weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, black head gears and neck chains, all bearing the logo of NBM, adding that investigation is on top gear.
Meanwhile, the police has alerted the general public on a missing person, one Miss Elizabeth Aluka, who has been reported missing.
SP Kalu said, “The victim left her home at No. 3 Andiyama Street, Agbor on 3/7/2016 at about 1630hrs to unknown destination and has not been seen since then. The said Elizabeth Aluka is aged 30 years, fair in complexion, speaks English and Ika languages fluently, and of average height”.
She called on any person with useful information about the where about of the victim to contact the Nigeria Police, Agbor Division in Delta state or the nearest Police station.
