Information reaching 247ureports.com revealed that yesterday’s confusion at the Ohanaeze Ndigbo secretariat at Park lane, Enugu, over the crisis in the Ohanaeze youth council, was a ploy instigated by some aggrieved members of his executive to battle their President General, Chief Enwo Igariwey, over a N20 million said to have been donated to the organization by a governorship aspirant in Abia State, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah.
Ogah is said to have extended the huge sum to the organization through Igariwey to seek their support over the lingering tussle over the Abia state governorship position.
A member of the organization who did not want his name on print told 247ureports.com that Igariwey received a N20 million from Ogah and only disclosed it to few members of his executive.
According to him, “we are aware that Uche Ogah extended a sum of N20 million to Igariwey to seek the support of Ohanaeze in his governorship ambition. The President General has refused to make it public. So, I m suspecting that somebody must have instigated the youths to as for their share of the money. This is the reason for the confusion witnessed at the Ohanaeze secretariat. The issue of policemen who came to arrest one of the executives of the youth council is a cover-up. If you are in doubt, why did Igariwey leave the meeting he was presiding over to calm the boys? He promised to settle them. We are not deceived. He must account for the money among others he has pocketed.”
Another member of Ohanaeze Ndigbo hinted that Igariwey unilaterally cancelled a courtesy visit to Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu which was slated to hold Tuesday 19th July, in Umuahia; a move which angered the executives of the organization.
He added that the members of the group are also angry with Igariwey over the non rendition of account on the funds Gov. Rochas Oklorocha donated to Ohanaeze Ndigbo for the Igbo Unity summit recently held in Owerri, Imo state.
The money handed over to Igariwey’s ally, Chief Onwuka Ukwa, was yet to be accounted for, even as the former continues to dilly dally over the situation.
