ANAMBRA state governor, Chief Willie Obiano yesterday formally presented Certificate of Recognition to the traditional ruler of Uga community in Aguata council of the state, HRH Igwe Chidi Ezenwugo.
This is the country home of Senator Andy Emmanuel Uba, after 18 years crises that left the gap in the community.
The brief but colourful presentation ceremony held at the Governor’s Lodge, Awka attracted key stakeholders in and around Uga.
Presenting the certificate, Gov Obiano pointed out that the numerous positive strides of his administration aimed at massive grassroot development cannot yield any meaningful result without peace at the communities, hence his efforts at uniting all communities where there are leadership and other tussles.
He charged the new traditional ruler to lead Uga citizens with the fear of God and avoid any act that may bring disrepute to the traditional stool/institution in the state; and assured him of his support to enable him succeed on the throne, calling on people of Uga to support him.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr Greg Obi said the neccesary screening processes have been observed before the traditional ruler emerged and commended the Uga Community for uniting to select and enthrone the royal father.
The Chairman of the State’s Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe advised the traditional ruler to operate an open and consultative system of leadership to ensure that he carries his people along, urging him to endeavour to identify with the Council to always be abreast of government policies to enable him key in.
The member representing Aguata One Constituency in the State House of Assembly! Dr Ikechukwu Umeh who is native of the Community thanked Gov Obiano for recognizing the traditional ruler, a gesture he noted has ended the 18 years leadership tussle, adding that with the development, the Community is now one.
Igwe Ezenwugo thanked the Governor for the recognition and promised to lead his people aright and support the laudable developmental initiatives of the government.
