Indications have emerged on why the Kogi state Governor hurriedly nominated commissioners and got them sworn-in within 72hrs.
Our source revealed that, the Governor has been in a dilemma as to how to access the N20Billion Naira bailout funds released by the CBN to enable him fund his contacts ahead of the tribunal judgment on Monday 6 ,June 2016.
247reports investigations revealed that, Zenith Bank with whom the bailout was domiciled insisted on a State EXCO approval before the Governor could make a draw down on the bail out fund. ” We were in real trouble. After all the high level meetings with the management of Zenith Bank, they blatantly told us to go form a cabinet and come up with an EXCO resolution ,if not they weren’t going to authorize any release of the fund. The source said.
” Our case was made worse when news filtered in that , the date for the judgement of the Kogi Governorship Elections Tribunal was for the 6th and 7th of June respectively . We had no choice than to convert some Special Advisers to Commissioners.” He added. Recall that, the Governor had converted about six Special Advisers in his cabinet into Commissioners.
On why he didn’t submit the list to the group of 15-lawmakers, our source who is a serving member of the state Assembly and member of the G-5 queried: “If you are in the Governor’s shoes, will you pass the list of nominees to your enemies? The G-15 are not loyal to the Governor and besides, we have applied for a Stay of Execution of the judgement of the Federal High Court Abuja reinstating the Speaker of the G-15 group, so why does Governor Bello need to bother about them?”.
“My brother, the difficulty we have now is that, the Justice Halima Mohammed led Tribunal have been impregnable since the commencement of this case. We have done everything to access them but with N20billion in our kitty,we will triumph as every man has a price tag”.
When reminded of the anti corruption war of Mr President, our source said: “forget that! ‘No be we-we?’
