An aspirant Oserheimen Osunbor on Thursday, formally picked up his expression of Interest and nomination forms to enable him contest the forthcoming Edo governorship election in the state on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing journalists after picking up his forms, Osunbor said with his wealth of experience and his track record as former Governor of the state he is the right man for the job.
He said if given the mandate if would consolidate on the gains of the current Governor, Adams Oshiomhole.
“My vision for the state, first of all I need you to know that I’m not a stranger to the office of Governor of Edo because I was there before from 2007 to 2008 and during that very brief period in less than one and half years I recorded a great deal of achievements In various spheres of development in Edo state.
“In terms Infrastructural Development, in terms of development of the civil service, the provision of dental equipment and other equipment to hospitals.
“The Ambrose Ali University and other tertiary institutions subvention was increased and we ensured that their Programmes were accredited.
“I have decided to make myself available to serve the people of Edo state and to continue with the qualitative governance I had given to them in the period I was governing state.
“Governance now and days is a multi task, multi dimensional enterprise, I’m a man that has varied experiences to render qualitative governance to Edo state at this point in time.
“I believe I possess the qualification the eminent, the requirements that I need to govern the modern Edo state.
While fielding questions further from journalists, Osunbor said he was not aware that Oshiomhole had anointed a preferred candidate.
“I’m not aware that he has anointed anybody, he said so at a Stakeholders meeting in government house in Benin that he had not anointed anybody, “he said.
He stressed that awarding bursaries to students in higher institutions will be one of his top priorities if he comes back as Governor of the state.
