As crises continue to trial the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), wards and local government congresses Enugu State PDP Reform Group has called for the shifting of state congresses and national convention pending when issues arising from the ward and local government congresses are resolved.
The group which said they are committed to the enthronement of internal democracy in (PDP), noted that it shall always conform to the fundamental principles of justice, good governance and democracy.
Briefing newsmen Saturday in Enugu, the leader of the group Hon. Henry Chibuzor accompanied with executives and some members of the group described the ward and local government congresses in the state as shamble particularly in Nkanu E/West councils.
According to him, “it is disheartening to see results of the PDP congresses both at the ward and LGAs especially in Nkanu West local government has been hijacked, mutilated and completely altered by those who felt that they can change or break the collective decision of the very resilient loyal party faithful of the PDP who turned out en mass on 30th April and 5th May, 2016 to exercise their franchise, to elect their leaders in their various wards and local government levels.
They accused Uchenna Nnaji who incidentally is the political adviser to the Acting National Chairman of the party, Sen. Ali Modu Sherrif for conniving with some people within Wadata Plaza Abuja to usurp his recent privilege position to alter, thwart, and manipulate the collective will of the people because of their unholy desire to destroy the party.
He said: “This heinous act was perpetrated by Uchenna Nnaji in collusion with his brother Nnoli Nnaji who is well known to have left the PDP for another party ‘People for Democratic Change (PDC), where he contested and lost House of Representatives election for Nkanu East and west federal constituency to PDP candidate.
We recall with nostalgia that he proceeded to the tribunal to challenge the outcome of the election result and was defeated. He appealed and lost. Now he is still in the High Court Enugu against our party, PDP and her candidate on many frivolous charges that can best be described as the ranting of a bad loser.
We do not want to believe that His Excellency Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff is aware of this disastrous and shameful act that can only be described as abuse of office and gross misconduct especially as he has been receiving barrage of criticisms from the media and members of PDP over his alleged plot to impose himself on the party.
We are most saddened and very worried that PDP will still succumb to imposition after the colossal loss in the last general election even as we are working assiduously to restore the party to its past glory by instituting internal democracy.
The action of Mr. Uchenna Nnaji and his cohorts are condemnable, unacceptable, crude unjustifiable and a gross display of acute megalomania.
We hereby as, how could Nnoli Nnaji participate in PDP activities such as congresses when he has not formerly returned to the PDP, moreso when he is still in court with the party. And if he has returned, has there been any conformity to the laid down procedure in the constitution of the party.
They group however, passed vote of no confidence on the State Chairman of the party, Ikeje Asogwa for his unholy romance with Nnoli Nnaji who are still in court with the party.
“We call our party men and women of good will to condemn, resist and over throw this evil and save our dear party from the possible destruction that they are planning which may ruin what we all built in Nkanu land.”
The group said it would not rest until the collective mandate of the PDP members during the ward congresses are restored just as it called for outright cancellation of the sham that happened in Nkanu West in the name of local government party congress.
