Six days after Delta State governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa told journalists at his first anniversary press briefing that the times are critical considering the dwindling allocation to the state, findings have revealed that the governor spent a whooping sum of N21 million on the anniversary thanksgiving service held at the Event Centre, Asaba.

At the press conference, Okowa said, “I don’t want to be taken by surprise as governor because times are difficult and we are finding it very difficult to manage our finances”, yet tax payers money was been wasted on events that has no effect on the state.

Apart from the planning which our correspondent gathered was handled by the Ministry of Information and the Manager (Communication) which gulps part of the money, financial resources were also wasted on comedy and musical artists among who are: Sammie Okposo, Chioma Jesus, Victor Atenaga, Frank Edward & Eben, Steve Crown, Samsong, Elijah Oyelade and Buchi among others.

It was also learnt that the Chief Press Secretary (CSP), to the governor, Mr. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, is having running battles with his boss, the Commissioner and the Manager (Communication) over reports that he has planned to hijack the committee in charge of the planning but it was turned down by the governor.

Our source said, “the CPS is angry with the Information Commissioner and the Manager (Communication) for selfish reasons and because he was side-lined from the planning”.
