The Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa-led administration has rather sited most of the ongoing road projects in Delta North Senatorial District of the state while a few is then spread across Delta South and Central, a situation which did not depict his S.M.A.R.T agenda or campaign slogan of ‘Prosperity for all Deltans’.
It is an established fact that a typical Agbor man is clannish and would not change no matter what. Before, during and after the governorship election in the state, a cross section of Deltans held the fear if Okowa was a true representation of Deltan.
In a document obtained by our correspondent from the Ministry of Works in Asaba, titled: “Ministry of Works Projects Awarded From May To October 2015”, out of the 20 roads awarded so far by the Okowa’s government, six are sited in Ika North East, his own council area, another six in Ika South while the remaining eight are spread across Delta South and Central Senatorial Districts of the state.
The road projects situated in Delta North Senatorial District includes: Alisimie-Ozanogogo-Ime Obi road (Ika South), completion of palace road Boji-Boji Owa (Ika North East), Owa-Eke/Owa-Alero, which is in the process of procurement (Ika North East), construction of Osonia street, Asaba (Oshimili South), construction of Obi Okolotu/Anthony Annonye streets with access from Maduemezia street, Asaba (Oshimili South), dualization of Nnebisi road from Traffic Light Junction to Cable-Point (Oshimili South), construction of Ikokogbe/Idumizomor road, Owa-Oyobu (Ika North East), construction of Upper Obiazikwor to Efeizomor street (Ika North East), construction of Raphael Obianke street between Word of Faith and Owa-Eke road (Ika South), construction of Orikeze street with Spur to Orikeze Close (Ika South), construction of Edwin/Ikechukwu roads (Ika North East) and construction of Onyeacholem street (Ika North East) all in Delta North Senatorial District.
The others which are spread across Delta North and Central Senatorial Districts are: construction of dual carriageway rigid pavement at Okerenkoko (Warri South West), reconstruction/expansion/construction of Kefas road/old Emore road/Uzere junction Oleh (Isoko South), construction of Ejiyere street, Dederu street and Akemu street by Church of God Mission (Warri South), Amukpe/Okirighwre/ATP roundabout road dualization (Sapele LGA), construction of Onomigbo street, Orerokpe, (Okpe LGA), construction of Ejinyere, Orodje street (Okpe LGA) and Okuvo-Kpokpogri, Okuvo and the construction of access road to tankers park, (Nigercat road) Ekpan (Uvwie).
It was gathered that the aggrieved people of Ndokwa extraction has written a protest letter expressing their anger on the lopsided road projects.
He came with the campaign slogan of ‘Prosperity For All Deltans’, little did Deltans know that it was prosperity for some Deltans.
