Fulani Herdsmen Abduct DELSU Staff In Delta

Cattle rearers popularly known as Fulani Herdsmen has gone berserk again in Delta State as a non-academic staff of the Delta State University (DELSU) Abraka, one Mr. John Ogeleke has been kidnapped by heavily armed gunmen suspected to be Fulani Herdsmen on his way to Ogume from Kwale.

It was learnt that Mr. Ogeleke was travelling in his Nissan Pathfinder SUV car when four Fulani Herdsmen armed with guns and dangerous weapons surfaced from a nearby bush after successfully stopping his car and whisked him away to an unknown destination.

Confirming the kidnap, the Delta State Command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Celestina Kalu said, Ogeleke was abducted in the early hours of Thursday at Kwale, Ndokwa West local government area of the state by suspected herdsmen who have been on the prowl in the area.

She added that the 54-year-old victim was heading towards Ogume from Kwale in his Nissan Pathfinder SUV when he was abducted at gun point.

She said the police in the Kwale division, vigilante members, men of Dragon 25 police patrol team and reinforcement from nearby divisions are already searching the vast bush, adding that, the Fulani leader in Kwale, Alhaji Mudi has also been informed “to assist in the search as several Fulani camps are located therein”.

In recent times, the activities of Fulani Herdsmen in the country has gone wide especially following President Mohammadu Buhari’s search for grazing and ranch settlement for them as no day passes by without the news of abduction by Fulani Herdsmen.
