Borno State Governor and Chairman, Northern Governors’ Forum, Alhaji Kashim Shettima has said that the fuel scarcity been experienced in the country at the moment will end in a couple of weeks, stating that President Mohammadu Buhari has set genuine mercenaries in place to put things right.

Alhaji Shettima spoke in Owerri, Imo State on Sunday while answering questions from journalists when he visited Governor Rochas Okorocha with the governors of Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Sanni Bello, and Jigawa State, Alhaji Badaru Abubakar Monmni, stressing that “the hiccups faced by the nation at the moment is expected as the APC government is in the process of rebuilding the nation from the bastardized state it was left by the PDP. When the PDP was misruling the country oil was hovering around 140 dollars per barrel. The price has now plummeted to less than 40 dollars per barrel. It is on the credit of president Buhari that the nation is still moving despite the decline in revenue. If the PDP was to continue in power, the nation would have disintegrated”.

He continued, “the integrity of the president has earned Nigeria respect in the global community as corruption has reduced drastically and impunity is a thing of the past now. Nigerians should give president Buhari the benefit of doubt because he has shown sincerity in his desire to building the Nigeria of our collective dreams and aspirations”.

On the Boko Haram issue, Governor Shettima said “the APC government has scored a great deal in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency. Boko Haram has been debased and all the roads in Borno State has been opened for business unlike before when they were occupying some local government areas”.

In his own contribution, Governor Okorocha said “there was enough evidence that Nigeria was almost going down the drain before the emergence of the APC government. God loves this country and that is why he brought APC at this point in time to save the nation from imminent collapse. If the PDP was still in charge and oil falls to this level, the nation would have been in a mess. Which means, God is not yet done with Nigeria and in President Buhari, he has restored our hopes back”.

Governor Okorocha added, “For APC leaders, it is a test. APC is equal to the task and we will move Nigerians out of this pit, dug by the PDP and the economy will soon blossom. Buhari has brought a sense of direction and leadership to the nation. If not Buhari, the current economic crisis would have swept the nation off its foot. And we the APC governors are putting our heads together to see how we can complement the effort of the president”.
