An aide to former governor of Anambra State, Chief Joe Martin Uzodike has said that it is not anyone’s business how Chief Peter Obi emerges as the candidate of the peoples democratic party in the Anambra Central Rerun election.
Uzodike who was speaking in a radio Phone-in programme on Blaze FM, In Orafitte, Anambra State in a programme tagged issues, was reacting to a question from the presenter asking to know how Obi will emerge the candidate when INEC has insisted that PDP is not eligible to field a candidate in the expected election.
Uzodike who remained quiet on the disclaimer issued by another faction of the PDP led by Ejike Oguebego, in which it stated clearly that Peter Obi was not a candidate of the party, rather saying that Chief Annie Okonkwo was the rightful candidate.
He said how Obi will emerge as the candidate of the party was totally the concern of the party and not for other candidates to begin to question the party as only members of the party have the right to question such.
He expressed optimism that at the end of the day, the entire PDP will form itself into one house and also support the former governor in his senatorial bid.
The former commissioner said that Obi has already kick started his campaigns and has been moving from place to place campaigning for the senate seat, and also said that before next week, the campaign posters of Obi will adorn the streets of all the towns that make up the zone.
Speaking on the recent arrest of the candidate of the APGA by the DSS, Uzodike said the entire saga looked like a cooked up game, that was masterminded by the APGA candidate to attract sympathy and shore up his popularity.
“Channels that broke the news credited the Anambra government house as the source of the news, and went ahead to report that when its correspondent reached out to the DSS for confirmation, they denied that anyone of such description was with them.
“I know Umeh, he is a loquacious person, and if actually there was a petition that caused his arrest, he would have been given such to read, and being a loquacious person he would have named the person.
“We are relying on the Anambra State governor to give us the true story of what transpired, because as a governor, he has a copy of the report of the SSS on his table everyday, stating what transpired in the state. So he should come out and tell us what happened.” Uzodike stated.
He added that the time for Obi to go the senate is ripe as Anambra cannot afford to watch from the sidelines by sending a lone senator from APGA to the senate. The senate he said is today being controlled by former governors, and sending Obi will be an advantage for the state.
Obi is a boy.
