Former Anambra State governor, Chief Peter Obi has launched a strong campaign to ensure that the APGA Candidate for the Anambra central senatorial rerun election, Chief Victor Umeh was stopped at all cost.
An APC source who spoke to our correspondent after a morning meeting with Chief Obi in his residence in Onitsha said the former governor was seeking a partnership with the party to ensure that Umeh did not go to the senate.
According to our source who refused his name to be mentioned, the party was in Obi’s house to hear him out, over his invitation to them.
He however refused to say what the outcome of the meeting was and how the party is supposed to help obi’s aspiration.
Another Anambra APC source who though was not at the meeting said obi called the meeting to urge APC to consider fielding a candidate for the forthcoming rerun as he was working hard through the court to remove all legal hindrances that may pose a challenge to him.
The source added that if APC accepted to feature Ekwunife in the election, he(Obi) may consider backing out of the election and working to install her. He added that obi’s major interest in the election was to ensure that Umeh was stopped from going to the senate as a revenge on him for convincing Obiano to dump him aster he had worked hard to install him.
Our correspondent also gathered that the duo of Umeh and Obi had on the same Saturday met at Oba for the ofala festival of Igwe PC Ezenwa, but both men almost displayed the hatred they have developed for each h other by merely shaking hands and moving on.
