Barely two years in office, kinsmen of the Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano have started meeting on ways to ensure that he is re-elected for another four year term when his current tenure expires in March 2018.

Anambra will be due for another governorship election in late 2017, and his Omambala brothers are not sparing any stone to ensure that he is re elected.

The group , Omambala Union, which consists of prominent members of the state from Anambra East, Anambra West, Ayamelum and Oyi local government areas have therefore issued a warning saying that there was no vacancy in the government house and asking those nursing such ambition to shelve it.

The four local government are among the seven local governments that make up the Anambra North Senatorial zone where the former governor of the state, Mr Peter Obi had insisted on zoning the state to.

The convener of the Omambala stakeholders meeting and the chairman of Anambra North traditional rulers Council, Igwe Rowland Odegbo, who is the traditional ruler of Nteje community after the meeting told journalists that the people of Omambala have decided to urge the governor to go for a second term in office.

Odegbo said the union hinged its reasons on the fact that the governor in barely two years of being in office has moved the state to an unprecedented height, making it a leading state in infrastructural development, security and other key areas.

“The resolutions met in the meeting are that from Omambala will support the governor for a second term in office. It his right to go for a second term, and we are here to show him solidarity.

“We are here because we do not want to split Omambala votes when the elections come, and also to tell people of other areas from the state that there is no vacancy in Anambra government house after the four years of his administration as he is returning for a second term.”

Our correspondent gathered that part of the resolution of the union was for members to project the governor and his achievement to the people through intensive campaign, which will make his re-election easy, and that he after a second term in office will be sent to the senate to represent Anambra North one of the state.
