The tranquil and lethargic Umuenem Ezinesi Oduma Aninri in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu state has been thrown into mourning when a 40year old Friday Anyim allegedly axed father’s 3rd wife to death.
Police in Enugu state have confirmed the incident even as it said that investigations have commenced as the suspect is already in custody.
It was gathered that Friday was in conflict with the elder sister over a request to sell a GP Tank and raise money to buy a motorcycle for him to start up Okada riding business in the community, instead of doing nothing.
Sources told 247ureports.com that after the desperate Friday had lost hope of swaying the sister to do his bidding. A fight broke and he took axe against the sister, but regrettably the 3rd father’s wife Bennedeth Anyim who intervened to save the situation allegedly received the axe on the neck and immediately she fell down and became unconscious.
According to the report, late Mrs. Anyim was rushed to hospital treatment where she was confirmed dead by the Doctor on duty.
The police spokesperson, DSP Ebere Amaraizu in a statement quoted the suspect, Friday Anyim to have now regretting his action as he was under the influence of drug saying that before the incident he took weeds (Indian hemp).
According to PPRO, “it was not his intention to kill the woman rather had wanted to hit the elder sister Abigail with the axe owing to annoyance before unknowingly the deceased intervened. I called on youths to abstain from smoking of weeds (Indian hemp) as well as other dangerous drugs”.
The father of the suspect and husband of the deceased, Mr. Anyim Samuel Ogbonna, who was visibly in pain to see himself, loses his son and wife in atrocious manner. “I don’t know how to approach this issue, but let the law takes it course”
