The Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, ECCIMA, has appealed to the management of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, to provide its numerous customers with pre-paid meters to enable members pay what they consume.

Out-going president, ECCIMA, Dr. Ifeanyi Okoye, who made the appeal Tuesday at the 2016 Annual General Meeting, AGM, of the Chamber in Enugu noted that electricity consumers in the zone are groaning under heavy payment occasioned by estimated billing.

He pointed out that if the customers are provided with pre-paid meters, they would be saved the throes of over payment.

Okoye used the AGM to announce the 27th edition of the Enugu International Trade Fair scheduled to hold from 25th March to 4th April, 2016.

Announcing the Chamber’s annual event with the theme “Diversification of Nation’s Economy from Rhetoric’s to coordinated Action” the outgoing president said that efforts for the successful hosting of the event have been put in place.

He also noted that the marketing of the fair commenced last year through direct and indirect marketing and actions towards realizing the objectives had been taken care of.

He however appealed to the Enugu state government to see the bad condition of internal roads at the fair complex as critical to successful hosting of the fair as it would impose great set back to participants at the fair.

“Hopefully, the incoming council would ensure that internal roads which are critical to successful hosting of the fair, would be addressed with the possible assistance of the state government” Okoye said.

Declaring the Annual general meeting open the governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Sam Ogbu Nwobodo, said that the state would work with organised private sector to ensure full achievement of its 4- point agenda.

He said that Enugu State Government is working towards reviewing all her business and investment related programmes and processes to ensure that the state’s “Ease of Doing Business index” is greatly enhanced into single digits in the work bank ratings.
