Governors in the south-east states are currently considering option of declaring curfew to tame the ongoing protest by some group of south easterners calling for the state of Biafra. According to information available to 247ureports.com, the south east governors were acting on the direction of the Inspector General of Police – this afternoon on the telephone to a group of south east governors.
247ureports.com reliably gathered that the Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase had earlier advised one of the governors – [Abia State Governor] to declare the curfew before the escalation of the protest. The advise had come following Governor Ikpeazu telephone call to the Police Inspector General seeking for assistance over the growing Biafra protest. Governor Ikpeazu had called requesting for help from the IGP. The IGP directed him to declare a curfew.
Today, the IGP repeated the advise to declare a curfew.
The Biafra loyalists on Monday shut down major markets and roads in Abia and Anambra states to press their demand.
A competent source, who pleaded not to be named said that the Arase’s advice to the South-east governors is being considering for implementation.
