Information reaching 247ureports.com indicates that not all is well with the announced release of the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra [IPOB], Nnamdi Daniel Kanu. This is coming with only hours following the announcement when the followers and supporters of the IPOB leaders – took to the street in Onitsha in celebration of the release of their leader, the Nigerian armed forces stationed in Onitsha, Anambra took to action.

As the celebration – which witnesses attested was peaceful – and as the chants turned to religious chants of praise and worship, some of the Nigerian armed forces approached the jubilant crowd forcing them to disperse. The order to disperse was immediately followed by sporadic gunshots into the crowd.
The gunshots killed four [4] instantly and injured five [5] – this according to eyewitness account from Dede Uzor A. Uzor who is a political activist stationed in Onitsha. The killing immediately spiraled into a protest/fight between the Nigerian troops and the crowd. The fight resulted in the death of one soldier.
The injured are currently being taken for treatment. The local hospital have rejected treating them without a police report.
