Our attention has been drawn to a pervasive and baseless rumour aimed at tainting the hard-earned name and reputation of our great party with a false claim that those who rigged our party out of the March 28 Senatorial elections on other platforms in the state are now bearing the flag of our party in a proposed repeat election.
Nothing can be farther from the truth.
Unsuspecting constituents of Anambra Central Senatorial District where the March 28 Senatorial elections mercilessly rigged by Mrs. Uche Ekwunife of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Chief Victor Umeh of All Progressives Grand Alliance has been he repeat election ordered by the Court of Appeal.
In the first place, neither Ekwunife, not Umeh is a member of the All Progress Congress (APC) in the time being. Therefore it becomes illogical to speak of any of them being candidate of the APC, which has a formidable ,winning candidate in the person of Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige, ,when the playing field is level.
Mgige is a Senate encyclopedia who served in seven committees ,wielded the influence never before seen from any opposition member and impacted Anambra Central superlatively, while winning the respect of many senators on leadership credentials between June 2011 and May this year.
He has not withdrawn his candidature .
Senator Ngige therefore remains the candidate of the APC, and this should dispel all distractive and provocative rumours, in an election that remarkably has no date or schedule yet.
APC remains a party of principle and the rule of law, deeply rooted in the due process., and firmly committed to the worthy cause of eliminating all election sharp practices in State in deed, thought ,deed, incentives and disincentives.
We advise our teeming membership, supporters and sympathizers to consign these rumours to the overflowing waste heaps on the streets of Anambra State and go on to enjoy their Yuletide Season, emboldened that they have a second opportunity to vote in an APC Senator that will join the majority in the National Assembly to bring the frontiers of change to Anambra State, when the whistle is finally blown by the Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC).
