While civil servants who are saddled with implementing the policies and programmes of government are being relegated to the background, politicians who do less job with no knowledge of the administration of government are carting away state resources at the expense of Delta State workforce.
A civil servant in the office of the Secretary to the Delta State Government, who would not want to be named for security reasons, made the allegation to 247ureports.com during a general chat with friends after church worship service on Sunday.
The civil servant said everybody is crying privately “because money is not flowing. People are not seeing money. Politicians are the ones eating our money. You can imagine how much must have gone into the settlement of the tribunal and lawyers that handled the tribunal case for the governor. Now that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Labour Party have gone to the Appeal Court, so much money will still go for that”.
Another indication of the tight handedness of the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, is that the security outfit at the State Government House had reduced beyond what used to obtain in the state government house prior to the administration of Okowa.
In an early morning drive, one could drive straight to the government house without any interference from security operatives because their presence is no more felt in the state house.
It was gathered that many of the security personnel who were mobilized to the government house, after serving in the state house for two weeks, they called for redeployment as the state house is no longer as attractive as it used to be. This is so because the juicy nature of the state house has gone with the expiration of Emmanuel Uduaghan’s government.
This is true because prior to the new administration, before any individual who is not a staff of the government house could access the government house, he must past through series of screening at the two gates leading to the government house.
But as at present, anyone with either good or bad intention could go to anywhere in the government house without much fear of security presence let alone being searched by screening machines.
It is either one two security officers at the entrance to the old government house who do not even care to know the identity of the persons coming into the state government house. This was never so in the days of the former governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan.
