The new government at the Lion house in Enugu State has indicated its unwillingness to support the upcoming 2015 medical mission to the state. According to the information available to 247ureports.com, the notice of refusal was made by the The Diaspora office of the Enugu State government headed by Ola Ezekwu.
The notice came in the letter dated October 30, 2015 under the reference heading of SPA/DSP/GH/Vol.1/20 and addressed to the National President of Enugu USA. The letter reads “Madam President, like I have stated to you previously in our conversations, these are challenging times for the Country. Due to budgetary constraints, Enugu State will not be able to shoulder the cost attendant to the 2015 Medical Mission. Such cost includes but not limited to accommodation, feeding and transportation.”
Previous Enugu state governments – over the years – had extended financial support to the medical mission – which is geared towards helping the impoverished population in Enugu State to access free medical attention. The EnuguUSA yearly medical mission is comprised of foreign medical experts who render their services on volunteer basis.
The medical mission for the year 2015 may hold without the financial support from the State Government.
