Dambazau had been speculated to be the minister of defence but his expectation were not met
24 hours after his inauguration, the minister has refused to visit the ministry.
Our reporter observed the staff of the ministry lamenting publicly on Thursday about the minister refusal to resume.
The Minister was sworn in alongside other 35 ministers by
the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday and was directed to hit the ground running immediately.
However, as at the time of filing this report on Thursday
evening, the minister is yet to resume at his duty post.
He was expected to arrive at the Ministry on Wednesday
evening to meet with senior staff of the Ministry and the
press immediately after his inauguration but after keeping
them waiting for hours, he didn’t show up.
Again, he was expected to hold same meeting on Thursday
morning but he postponed it to 1:00pm at the eleventh hour.
With all the service chiefs of the parastatals under the
Ministry already seated, a message was sent in around 2:00
pm that the meeting has again been postponed to 4:00 pm.
The Director of Press of the Ministry, Isiaka Yusuf told
Newsmen that the Minister had to postpone his resumption
in order to honour the invitation of the President to attend
the swearing in of the new permanent secretaries at the
state house.
