According to the source, the governor is alleged to have confided to his close confidents that he is not comfortable in the APC as most of the party’s national officers including the president, Muhammadu Buhari have lost confidence in him and is not carried along in most party affairs.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has no confidence in Governor M.A Abubakar because of his role in the 2003 presidential election in Rivers state when he was INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner and his alleged arrest by the EFCC for corrupt practices.

“He only became a governor by chance through the influence of President Muhammadu Buhari but not from his efforts as the huge amount extended to him as contribution by Yuguda was saved in case of a fall back. Yuguda extended another N65million to him after the elections for his travels which he used to settle incurred debts. He is presently hobnobbing more with PDP chieftains than APC”, said the source.

247ureports reliably gathered that while in Bauchi, governor Abubakar is alleged to be more pre-occupied with how to award contracts to fronts and relations at unbelievable amounts than addressing pressing state issues that deserve urgent attention such as steady water supply etc.

It was said that the renovation of a three (3) kilometer road within Bauchi metropolis that stretches from State Secretariat roundabout to Railway roundabout was awarded by Governor Abubakar at over N2billion while an 80-kilometer brand new road from Alkaleri – Futuk was awarded and completed by the Yuguda administration at less than N1billion which has caused doubt in the minds of the people on the sincerity of the APC administration in the state.

APC chieftain and a youth leader, Abdullahi Little opined that the direction of Governor M.A Abubakar administration in Bauchi state remains a mystery, “We are only APC members by registration and name but lost out of the system. We have never in history experienced what we are experiencing in public administration in Bauchi state. APC as the ruling party is confused. PDP as the leading opposition party in the state has lost focus. Where the state is heading to is only known to a selected few. We always hear the same song of no money while N8billion bailout was received apart from what the governor inherited and the UBA and Fidelity loans he collected. We are only watching and praying for the best”.

Leader of an NGO, National Congress for Democrats, Bibi Dogo expressed his dissatisfaction with how state resources are managed by the M.A Abubakar administration despite claims of transparency and honesty.

“Our state is now the milking cow, of a selected few opportunists on the corridor of power. State resources are at the mercy of fraudsters and tricksters. We are fed with lies by parochial liars while our resources are diverted to private vaults. President Muhammadu Buhari and anti-corruption agencies should visit Bauchi state for a proper investigation of how our resources are managed before the state is mortgaged to a consortium of banks without projects to commensurate.

“APC accused PDP of corrupt practices while a three-kilometer road was awarded by APC administration at N2billion as if the road is to be pasted with gold. Contracts are awarded without due process but to fronts and relations. The state has no executive council but contracts are awarded through dictatorship. We need to organize ourselves to press for proper investigation in the interest of the state”, he said

Bibi further said, “Cosmopolitan Cleaners receive a monthly grant of N17million just to collect rubbish from the streets while the state lacks the necessary infrastructures to benefit the people. A selected few individuals are being enriched against development”.
