The United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has disclosed that about 3, 460 migrants have died or gone missing in bid to travel to Europe via the Mediterranean sea.
Some of the migrants fleeing international borders tried to escape from war violence and prosecutions from their host country.
According to a report by the UNHCR on Sunday, not less that 819, 218 migrants and refugee however made it to Europe. This accounts for 85 per cent of world 10 most refugee producing countries whose citizens arrive Europe through sea crossing.
Nigeria ranks 5th on the list contributing 2 per cent to the global ranking.
Saudi Arabia ranks top with 52 per cent migrants followed by Afghanistan with 19 per cent, Iraq six percent and Eritera which accounts for five per cent.
Others include Pakistan two per cent, Somalia two per cent, Sudan one per cent, Gambia one per cent and Mali which also contributed one per cent.
The statistics was verified with information from Naval chiefs, Non Governmental Organisations, family and relatives of deceased who made the harsh trip, coast guards, governments as well as the UNHCR.

Some nations including France rejected entry of the disadvantaged immigrants blaming their action on likely over-stretch of their infrastructure.
