Apparently targeting the deputy publicity secretary Timi Frank , who has been issuing statement recently, the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Friday, alerted that
unauthorised persons have recently been issuing statements on
behalf of the party, declaring the development as wrong and
unacceptable.
The APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, raised the
alarm in a statement he made available to newsmen, saying that
only himself and the National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai
Muhammed, could speak for the party on national issues.
The APC national chairman has, therefore, directed that
henceforth, any member of the National Working Committee (NWC)
or the party generally who wishes to
speak on behalf of the party should expressly clear such
statement with his office or the party.
Oyegun also directed that state publicity secretaries of the party
should restrict their statements to issues concerning their various
states.
He expressed the belief that all concerned would adhere strictly to
the new guideline.
Text of the statement read: “It has come to the attention of the
leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that
unauthorised persons have recently been issuing statements on
behalf of the party.
“This is totally wrong and unacceptable as only the National
Chairman and the National Publicity Secretary can speak for the
party on national issues.
“Therefore, any member of the National Working Committee (NWC)
or the party generally who wishes to speak on behalf of the party
should expressly clear such statement with the National Chairman
of our great party.
“Also, state publicity secretaries of our party should restrict their
statements to issues concerning their various states.
“It is expected that all concerned will adhere strictly to this
guideline.”
