Nigeria declares Thursday public holiday for Independence remembrance

The Nigerian government has declared Thursday, 1st October 2015 as a public holiday to mark the Nigeria’s 55th Independence celebration.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior Abubakar Magaji made the declaration on behalf of the federal government in a statement signed by the Ministry’s Director of Press, Yusuf Isiaka on Monday in Abuja.

The Permanent Secretary who congratulated all Nigerians both at home and abroad also thanked them for their supports to President Muhammadu Buhari in his efforts towards building a peaceful, united and virile nation.

He further urged them to use the occasion of the celebration to pray for peace and unity across the country.
