Governors on the platform of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), may have ended the unity once exited in the forum as a result of leadership style of its Chairman, Rochas Okorocha of Imo state, it has been gathered.
It was gathered reliably that the center could not hold again for the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) as it fondly known, making the Secretariat of the body no more functioning effectively, even as some of the governors no longer respond to directives and function organize by the body.
A dependable source told told our reporter in Abuja yesterday that about twelve governors who were no longer interested in governor Okorocha led forum have vowed not to respect the body any longer.
The source said the PGF Secretariat staff led by it director general Salihu Moh. Lukman, were disappointed in Kastina on Monday when APC governors who are members of the forum boycotted the well-publicized meeting scheduled to hold between Sept. 14 and 16.
A statement signed by forum DG had said that the Kastina parley was meant to set legislative agenda for the implementation of the APC manifesto.
According to the statement “The overall objective of the parley is to facilitate the development of synergy and common legislative benchmarks in all APC states and National Assembly.”
Other personality absent at the event the Senate President, Speaker, House of Representatives, Speakers of APC state assemblies and key officers of the party.
An aide to one of the governors from the South-west confided in newsmen that his boss and some others are through with governor Okorocha, who the aide alleged to have failed to empower the Secretariat of the forum despite the resolution by the governors.
But when contacted by the News Agency of Nigeria reporter, the Director General of Progressive Governors Forum, Salihu Lukman, in an attempt to save his head said that the event was postponed because of the forthcoming Sallah, adding that a new date would be announced for the inaugural parley later.
Lukman also said said that the parley would assist APC governors to adhere to the party’s vision and mission and translate it into good governance.
