As if the All Progressive Congress in Delta is pre-emptying the judgment soon to be delivered by the tribunal trying the cases brought before it by the aggrieved guber candidates against Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, the APC is making reconciliatory moves in preparation for a possible re-run election.
In a statement signed by Olorogun Emerhor, the All Progressive Congress guber candidate, and made available to journalists, Emerhor said the reconciliation moves was to effectively position the party for a possible re-run and dominate the political scene of Delta should the tribunal invalidate Okowa’s victory.
Chieftains of the party are currently in high spirit as Emerhor garners overwhelming support of members in the three senatorial districts following the victory of APC at the presidency.
Emerhor said the bond of unity and absolute oneness of members had put paid to speculations by the opposition that Delta APC will not survive the crisis rocking the party following the sack of the erstwhile executive council members.
He disclosed that the crisis was traced to some party members in the Diaspora who did not believe initially that President Muhammadu Buhari would win the election but later schemed to hijack the party structure in the state after the landslide victory as well as those who were either working for the PDP for selfish interest but could not achieve their goals in the PDP power sharing game.
The other groups, according to Emerhor, were those who lost out at the party primaries including party members who PDP planted within the rank and file of the party to generate crisis for electioneering strategies before, during and after the general elections.
Emerhor posited that members of the Delta APC had resolved to remain united and to support his aspiration having been and still the major financier of the party in the state so as to mobilize for a possible re-run election after the legal tussle at the tribunal.
He said this development has placed the party in a better position to rescue power from the PDP which he said had mismanaged the resources of the oil rich state in the past 16 years of democratic rule.
