APC Lift Suspension On Members In Bayelsa Ahead Primary

The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief John Odigie-Oyegun on on Monday affirmed that the Bayelsa state delegates list to be used for the governorship primaries is intact and at his custody at headquarters, saying, the rumours that it was being tampered with has no foundation.

 

Odigie-Oyegun in a statement signed by the deputy National secretary of the APC, Comrade Timi Frank in Abuja, also lifted suspension purportedly placed on some members of the party to facilitate a conducive atmosphere for the primaries.

 

Oyegun said: “Following reports of threat and intimidation of me,bers of our great party in Bayelsa state in view of the party governorship primaries scheduled for September 19, 2015, and a meeting by the national leadership of the party with the 19 aspirants under the platform of the party in Abuja today, after carefully listerning to their complain against the state executive, the National Working Committee has decided to affirm the existing delegates list to be used for the primaries.”

 

The statement also annul any suspension whatsoever placed on any member of the party in the state.

 

Thearty also direct the APC party executive at all levels to maintain strict neutrality before and during the primaries process.

 

Odigie-Oyegun further assured the aspirants and all me,bers of the party in the state that the primaries will be free and fair as the national leadership of APC has no preferred candidate for the primaries.

 

He called on all the governorship aspurants and elected delegates to come out enmass to partake in the primaries, while urging them to accept the outcome of the primaries by supporting any of the candidate that emerges from the process.

 

He also made it clear that the national leadership of the APC would not tolerate a situation where aspirants or their supporters are being harassed and intimidated in anyway.
